Everyone’s favourite ice cream brand Ben and Jerry’s has teamed-up with the Marley Family to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the reggae icon’s definitive album, Legend. The result is a brand new flavour of ice cream – wonderfully titled Satisfy My Bowl – an amusing play on the singer’s hit Satisfy My Soul.
To celebrate the partnership, a selection of the UK’s emerging musicians were chosen by a panel, including a member of the Marley Family, to perform alongside Sir David Rodigan MBE at London’s The Vaults. Dubbed the #LegendSession the event saw these artists performing some of Marley’s most iconic hits in a mix of musical styles – truly showcasing the power of his song-writing and ability to use music as a force to unite.
As for the ice cream, Satisfy My Bowl features banana, caramel and cookie swirls and in true tributary fashion to the peace and love adoring reggae titan, a variety of chocolatey peace signs. The proceeds from this limited edition flavour will go to the Marley Family’s 1Love Foundation and Partners for Youth Empowerment which enables young Jamaicans to keep making music and keep Marley’s legacy alive.
